Sample Lesson - Maths Year 1 - Refresher Programme

This sample lesson will give you a good idea of how our Curriculum Steps programmes are structured for each year group and the format of the videos and supporting resources (PDF).

Each weekly video is designed to show you exactly ‘what’ content to teach and ‘how’ to teach it to your child as if this was a lesson with a tutor. A resource sheet (PDF) is available with every video with differentiated work from one star to three stars so you can see how well your child is doing and they can achieve a sense of challenge and accomplishment.

Obviously children’s learning focus and speeds all vary, but we have carefully split each year group’s curriculum and designed each weekly ‘tutor’ session to take approximately one hour - like a standard tutoring session. However, as you are delivering this, you can choose how and when to deliver this and may prefer to work on smaller amounts of time each day instead of one longer session.

Lessons within each year group are ordered in maths topics with an assessment sheet at the end to see what your child can remember from this set of lessons. This makes it easy for people to join throughout the year. The order and content of these lesson topics are detailed under each year group and subject below.
