Let us answer your questions

Please find below the answer to some of the questions that you may have.

If you would like to ask a question that hasn’t already been answered, please contact us and we will respond to your query.

What subjects and grade levels do your programs cover?

Our programmes are created specifically for maths and English at primary school level (Reception to Year 6). We also are able to offer academic assessments and specific assessments if your child may have a learning need, such as dyslexia.

How are the programs designed to be engaging for children?

We understand that children need to be actively engaged in learning in order to make progress. Our tutorials are directed at parents to watch and be able to model current teaching methods to your children.  The videos advise of additional practical activities and games, and teaching tips, to support your child’s learning to make things fun. Our worksheets are at three challenge levels and colourful, clear and not too long. Feedback has advised us that they are appealing to children, but you can have a look at examples on our website.

Do the programs align with specific curriculums or learning standards?

Yes, our programmes are completely in line with the National Curriculum statements for each year group.

How can I track my child's progress?

Our programmes offer the opportunity for children’s progress to be tracked and celebrated:

Curriculum steps Programme – we offer topic assessments and termly assessments on all content since September (December, March and July). These will give you a clear indication of your child’s progress, strengths and any areas that may require recapping.

Topic Bundles - we offer topic assessments at the end of each bundle where there is more than one tutorial.

How will I know which topic bundles to purchase and where my child needs help?

Your child’s teacher will be able to advise you on areas your child finds more challenging.   However, we also offer a free assessment paper for your child’s year group for maths and English.  If your child works through these questions, you will be able to identify the related bundles for any questions where your child has any problems.

We also offer a summary of your child’s year as a set of 18 maths and English tutorials.  Each tutorial comes with 3 levels of supporting work. The work can be used to see the progress that your child has made. You can use these to not only measure your child’s ability to complete the learning, but the level of support that they need and whether they are able to complete learning independently, without any adult support.

I think my child is working at the right level for their age but I worry they will forget things through the school year.  Would your programmes help?

It can often be difficult for children to keep all the learning active in their minds and not forget things. There is so much to remember!  Our Refresher Programme supports children by giving you 9 summary tutorials for maths and 9 for English which your child can work through at their own pace at home, as many times within the school year as they like.  This keeps everything recapped - and is especially useful before they start their new year group in September.

Is there any opportunity for live interaction with a tutor or teacher?

All our programmes are pre-recorded, which children and parents reportedly find incredibly useful as they are able to watch and re-watch the tutorials as necessary to support their learning. Feedback from parents and children tells us that this makes our programmes an extremely effective way of learning.

Do you offer individual tutoring sessions with a teacher?

Our programme is set up to provide you with everything you will need to deliver your own tutor session for your child. Each video will give you the information about the topic and explain how to deliver this to your child, together with, from our years of experience, areas your child may find more difficult or regular mistakes they may make.

We provide you with three supporting worksheets for each lesson with an increasing difficulty of work so you can work at the level suitable for your child’s confidence. All the answers are provided. We hope this gives you everything you need to deliver the session but without the expensive costs of a tutor. All the sessions are based on the National Curriculum requirements and current teaching methods. If you are worried about your child’s progress, we do offer an individual Academic Assessment and also a Learning Needs Assessment. See this section of our website for more details.

“My daughter is really enjoying the Refresher Programme. I’m pleased to be able to help her recap on Year 1 and to know what she understands or may need a little help with. Your videos are so easy to understand and the activities are completely doable without being a chore. We love doing it together too.  Thank you!!“

What kind of results can I expect for my child?

Results will vary from child to child, with a range of factors that may affect their progress, including the amount of time you dedicate to learning, whether children are able to ‘bump’ into their learning again in conversation or through real life examples, the amount of support that they have, whether there is a dedicated learning space at home provided for the child and if the child is able to work undisturbed.  We do offer tips and ideas on how to get the best out of one-to-one learning time with your child through our Free Membership page.

Will my child be able to keep up with the learning?

Learning is broken into small, easy-to-understand tutoring chunks of work each week to hopefully may it clear and manageable. You can access the video as many times as you like to give you the option to split the learning into smaller pieces. As a guide, to get the most out of the Curriculum Steps Programme, we recommend you set aside an hour each week for the tutor session. Some parents do find it difficult to keep up with a weekly tutoring session.  If you think this would be difficult, we would recommend you access the topic bundles for just the areas your child is finding difficult.  They can then access these tutorials in their own time and at their pace.

If your child is having problems keeping up with the work as it is too difficult, it may be a good idea to start on a different year group plan to secure these foundations before trying to keep up with their own year group content. Please email us and we can transfer your plan or alternatively you could run two plans side by side.

What technology do I need for my child to access the programmes?

All our tutorials are pre-recorded and available online through our website. You will therefore need to be able to offer a computer, laptop or tablet as well as internet access and a good internet speed. Activity sheets will need to be printed.

How easy is it for my child to navigate the platform independently?

When you set up an account, you will be asked to create a login and a strong password, to maintain security to the site. It is expected that the site is logged into and navigated by an adult. Passwords should be unique and not shared with anyone. However, especially with older children, once you have logged on, they will be able to watch the video themselves.

What is the pricing structure?

Our programmes are priced differently. The Curriculum Steps programme works on a monthly subscription, with no tie in period and our Topic Bundles and Refresher Programme are charged at different prices. Please visit the relevant page on the website for specific costs.

Do you offer free trials or introductory sessions?

We have a few sample tutorials available on our website and we would suggest you have a look at these first to understand how the programme works.  We don’t offer free trials although from time to time we have special offers (e.g. a free initial month for the Curriculum Steps Programme).  You are not tied in to any specific period of time for the Curriculum Steps Programme so you can try this and cancel if it doesn’t work for you - or purchase a small Topic Bundle to try first. Please note, however, once a bundle is purchased and all content available, this cannot be refunded.

 What is your cancellation policy?

Curriculum Steps: subscriptions are debited monthly. You may cancel your subscription at any time by contacting us.

Refresher Programme: This is a single, one off payment that is non-refundable.

Topic Bundles: These are all individually priced depending upon the number of tutorials within the individual topic area. Once purchased, you will have access to the content for 12 months so these cannot be refunded.
