Friendships make us feel happy and secure. Helping your child with their friendships in the primary years will give them the fundamental building blocks for developing healthy and positive relationships. You can help your child to understand the characteristics of good friendships such as mutual respect, truthfulness, loyalty, kindness, generosity, trust, sharing interests and experiences and support with problems and difficulties.

Have a go at creating a good friend picture or brainstorm together. Think of someone they think it is good friend and reflect on why this is. How do they make you feel? How do you help each other? What do you like to do together?
